The Damchiya features an extensively decorated front with hand-carved geometric, linear, floral and traditional motifs arranged across multiple panels and borders. Numerous real mirror pieces in round and rectangular forms are incorporated throughout the façade, adding the distinctive decorative character traditionally associated with Kutch furniture.
The central section features two opening wooden doors, detailed with carved patterns, mirror accents and aged iron fittings. After opening these central doors, an internal safety locking arrangement can be accessed, adding another layer of closure to the storage section.
The piece can also be opened from the upper section, providing additional access to its interior and reflecting its traditional functional construction.
A particularly distinctive feature is the pair of hand-carved horse forms positioned at the two upper corners, which give the Damchiya a strong sculptural and traditional character.
