Traditionally, carved wooden brackets like these were used as architectural supports around the entrances and structural sections of old South Indian homes. These two original vintage fragments have now been thoughtfully mounted on sturdy iron stands, transforming them into freestanding sculptural décor while preserving their architectural history and aged character.
Each bracket features its own individual hand-carved Yali design, with flowing forms, spiral motifs, floral and ornamental detailing carved across different sections. As these are old, individually hand-carved pieces, the carving and design of both brackets are different and are not identical.
Both pieces retain their beautiful natural aged wood colour. One bracket primarily displays its natural wooden tones, while the other retains small traces of old faded orange colour in selected carved areas. These subtle colour remnants are part of its naturally aged surface and are not newly applied paint.
Visible wood grain, lighter and darker aged tones, worn edges, old marks, carving wear, weathered surfaces, and small natural cracks in selected areas of both pieces reflect their age and former architectural use.
